Ngā Tāngata Microfinance

Ngā Tāngata Microfinance is a non-profit that offers small loans to New Zealanders on low incomes. Backed by Kiwibank, the loans are an alternative to lending options people turn to when they hit a tough patch. Inspiration Point repositioned the lending products as, ‘safer, little loans that get you through a tight spot,’ which reflects the amount of the loans ($3,000 and under) and the fact that they are safer than those offered by unregulated providers.

Keeping the existing brand name, we strengthened the logo with the addition of a tagline, ‘Little loans to help out.’ The look and feel of the brand was updated to encourage engagement with the target audience by displaying empathy, hope and understanding.

The campaign aimed to make the target audience aware of this safer option and to register their interest in a loan. Digital advertising targeted potential clients, and the registration process was simplified and automated by directing enquiries to the nearest budgeting service.

Supporting collateral, including posters and flyers, was developed to display at budgeting centres.

Response rates increased on average by 50% higher during the campaign period – helping more New Zealanders to get out of a financial tough spot in a safer, more cost effective way.

Inspiration Point understood our needs and went over and above in delivering on the brief. The team were a pleasure to work with. Their concepts were innovative and inclusive and with their support we on the path to achieving our objectives.
